Police Arrests Tekno Over Public Indecent Display

Popular musician Augustine Kelechi Miles, also known as Tekno, has been arrested for displaying semi-clad girls in public.

According to news house, THISDAY, popular musician Augustine Kelechi Miles, also known as Tekno, has been arrested for displaying semi-clad girls in public.

The news report has it that he was arrested on Tuesday and is undergoing questioning at the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba.

This development is following Tekno’s mobile advertisement in a see-through vehicle that had half naked girls dancing seductively around Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.

The incident raised public outrage and has caused the state government to react quickly.

Speaking in confirmation of the arrest, the State Police Spokesman, Bala Elkana, a deputy superintendent of police said: “The command has arrested Tekno and the two girls for conveying half naked girls at the Lekki area of Lagos.

“He is presently undergoing questioning at the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti.”

Already, the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASSAA) has suspended the licence of the advertising firm, Pro-Vision Media Systems Limited, owners of the truck.

The police said such acts of public indecency was against the criminal code and if after investigation those involved were found guilty, they would be charged to court.

In his defence, Tekno said he merely used the truck to convey his crew to a location for a shoot and did not intend to breach public decency.
