Rema achieves historic milestone as ‘Raves & Roses’ goes platinum in Canada
Rema‘s debut album ‘Raves & Roses’ has achieved a platinum status in Canada.
This is the first Afrobeats album to achieve this feat.
The announcement was made on the website of Music Canada on July 17, 2023. It was made after the album surpassed 80,000 units in sales.
This comes after Rema’s success in the Afrobeats mainstream with the smash hit ‘Calm Down‘, which gained massive global popularity.
The single was further propelled by the release of the Selena Gomez-assisted remix, charting in multiple countries, including the UK Singles Chart and the Billboard Hot 100.
Notably, ‘Calm Down’ also earned platinum certification in Canada, with the Selena Gomez-assisted version declared 7 times platinum on July 10, 2023.
Since the release of ‘Calm Down’, Rema’s international acclaim has grown. It has given him a prominent figure in the Afrobeats scene.
The single has become the most streamed Afrobeats song on Spotify. It is also the most-watched Nigerian music video on YouTube.
