Rita Dominic takes charge of Miss Nigeria Pageant

Folio Communications, after hosting the Miss Nigeria beauty pageant for 16 years, is now passing the responsibility to The Audrey Silva Company (TASC).

TASC is a company owned by actress and producer Rita Dominic and film director Mildred Okwo.

Rita Dominic stressed that the Miss Nigeria Pageant is a true reflection of the unity of Nigeria.

“The platform has over the years empowered young women from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions. I am proud of what my husband, Mr Fidelis Anosike, founder of Folio Communications and Publisher of Daily Times newspaper has done with the brand for 16 long years. I am pleased to announce that he is handing over the reins to me and partnering with TASC.”

Rita Dominic acknowledged her 25 years of experience in film production. She also pointed out her dedication to learn from others, including the previous organizers of Miss Nigeria.

She expressed her excitement about the new phase of Miss Nigeria under her leadership.

On the other hand, Anosike recognized the historical significance of the pageant, its original creators, and Chief Atinuke Oyelude, the first Miss Nigeria.

He believes it’s time for a new team. He sees TASC as the perfect organization to carry forward the legacy of Miss Nigeria.

Anosike said:

“Who better to take it to the next level than my delectable wife Rita Dominic and The Audrey Silva Company,” said Anosike. “I am confident that she will take the pageant higher to the pride of Nigeria. We welcome the Audrey Silva company into the Miss Nigeria 1957 partnership with great expectation which will be for the Miss Nigeria platform to transition into an empowerment trust for young Nigerian women.”

Rita Dominic, renowned for her intellect, fashion sense, and style, is anticipated to bring a fresh perspective to the historic pageant.

She will collaborate with Mildred Okwo, her partner at TASC.

TASC has earned acclaim for producing some of Nollywood’s finest films. This includes ‘The Meeting’ and ‘La Femme Anjola.’

Miss Nigeria started in 1957 through the national newspaper Daily Times. It was initially an annual pageant celebrating the positive attributes of Nigerian women and granting university scholarships.

The winner serves as an exemplary role model for other young women to emulate.

In recent years, the pageant has embraced inclusivity and diversity. This is exemplified by the recent crowning of Shatu Garko, the first Muslim to win the pageant.
