Human rights activist and the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress(AAC),  Omoyele Sowore, has offered to help controversial TikTok personality and disc jockey Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken.

Sowore made the pledge on Monday in a post on his X handle, declaring his readiness to advocate for DJ Chicken and to assist in challenging the charges the police brought against him.

He urged anyone connected to the content creator’s family or relatives to reach out so he can help fight what he described as burdensome and unjust charges.

The case started after DJ Chicken posted a viral video in which he commented in Yoruba on the 2027 presidential election. He allegedly threatened to kill Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, if the president secures re-election.

Following public outrage, DJ Chicken released a second video where he retracted the statement. He explained it was only a joke meant to gain attention and that he had no harmful intentions.

Authorities arraigned him on Friday before a Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos, on three counts bordering on threat to kill, conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, and offences under the Cybercrime Act 2015. DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The magistrate granted him bail of ₦1 million with two sureties in the same amount and ordered his remand at Kirikiri Correctional Centre until he meets the conditions. The court adjourned the matter to August 3, 2026.
