Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has come under fire following his reaction to the ongoing marital controversy involving media personality Roby Ekpo and his wife, Mayowa Lambe Ekpo.
The drama began after a viral video surfaced online showing Mayowa, dressed in a wedding gown, tying the knot with another man in Texas, United States.
Reacting to the clip, Dakolo appeared stunned and took to social media to question the situation publicly.
“@Robyekpo have you and Mayowa officially divorced? Na the part wey confuse me. As I see wedding I shock pass you. Guy come tell the world your part o,” he wrote.
In response, Roby Ekpo addressed the situation, thanking supporters for their calls and messages.
“My people, thank you for the calls and messages. I really appreciate y’all,” he said.
Roby noted that he has moved past the most difficult phase but declined to share full details about what transpired between him and Mayowa.
“I have overcome the hard part. Make we no talk too much because the story long well well,” he added.
The comedian and radio presenter also wished Mayowa well in her new marriage, describing it as her third.
“Happy married life Mayowa, may this third marriage be beautiful and may it last,” he wrote, concluding with, “Life no too hard like that.”
However, Dakolo’s public remark did not sit well with many social media users, who accused the singer of being insensitive. Some argued that he could have reached out privately instead of making a public comment.
“Timi Dakolo’s comment is a bit disappointing to see. He could have reached out to him privately to inquire instead of making himself look childish,” one user wrote.
Another added, “Dakolo is so insensitive. Silence would’ve been better.”
