Tobi Bakare to lead in upcoming crime series ‘Slum King’

Tobi Bakare is making a return to our screens as the lead actor in Africa Magic’s latest crime series, “Slum King.”

Bakare portray the character Edafe ‘Majemijesu’ Umukoro. Edafe is an individual who has gone through immense trauma after witnessing the massacre of his family by armed robbers at a young age.

This tragic event has haunted him. He blames himself for failing to lock the front door, which allowed the robbers to enter his family’s home.

As Edafe grows older, he transforms from a troubled slum dweller into MAJE. MAJE is the charismatic king of the slums. A thirst for revenge against those responsible for his family’s death drives him.

The series vows to illuminate significant issues that are widespread in major slums within metropolitan cities. It will delve into psychological aspects, dramatic narratives, struggles, and intricate love triangles.

Anticipation for each character’s next move is expected to grip viewers, keeping them on the edge of their seats.

“Slum King” explores the psychology and challenges faced in metropolitan areas as a 10-part limited drama series.

Dimeji Ajibola directed the Slum King The series boasts an all-star cast, including Teniola Aladese, Olarotimi Fakunle, Idia Aisien, Elvina Ibru, Hermes Iyele, Bolaji Ogunmola, Philip Asaya, Charles Inojie, Greg Ojefua, Sonia Irabor, Gideon Okeke, and Jidekene Achufusi.

The series will make its debut on October 8, 2023. It will air every Sunday at 8 p.m. on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv channel 151 and GOtv Supa+ channel 12).

It promises to be a compelling and emotionally charged drama that will resonate with viewers.
