The Ugandan chief of army and son of President Yoweri Museveni, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has caused a stir on social media after openly expressing his intention to marry US singer Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.
The controversial military leader announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he planned to hold a solo protest at Kampala’s City Square to show his affection for the 44-year-old Grammy-winning artist, even though she has been married to rapper and music executive Jay-Z for 18 years.
He said the protest would be called “I’m here Beyonce”.

“If Beyonce doesn’t even know me, I’m going to mount a 1 man demonstration at City Square. It will be called ‘I’m here Beyonce’ demonstration,” Kainerugaba wrote in the now-deleted post.
In another deleted tweet, he gave Jay-Z, 56, an ultimatum: the rapper had one week to “surrender” Beyoncé to him, or he would take the issue to the United Nations.

“I’m giving Jay-Z one week to surrender my wife to me. Or else I take this matter to the UN,” he added.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z married in April 2008. They have three children: Blue Ivy, born in 2012, and twins Rumi and Sir, born in 2017.

Kainerugaba has shown interest in the singer before.
In 2025, he posted several messages on X, saying, “Jay-Z married my woman.” He also challenged Jay-Z to a physical duel and said Jay-Z should come to Uganda to apologise.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z have not responded to the comments.
