Nollywood veteran actor cum rapper, Harry B, has taken to social media to solicit funds for colleague Maureen Okpoko, who lost her sight three years ago.
In a video that surfaced on social media, Harry was seen with the actress as he called on colleagues and well-wishers to come to her aid.
He said, “Hello everyone. I am here in Enugu with my sister in Nollywood, Maureen Okpoko. Please, let’s reach out and support her. She is blind, but she can regain her sight. All she needs is our support.
“I am here for her, and I am appealing to all of us, especially the Igbo community and everyone in Nollywood and the entertainment industry, to support Maureen Okpoko. She is blind and cannot see at the moment.
“Please, let’s all come together and help her. God bless you.”
Maureen first asked for help in 2023 after she lost her sight. She posted a video on Instagram, where she told Nigerians that the experience was hard for her and asked for financial support.
Harry’s request for help comes as many veteran Nollywood actors are also asking the public for support to pay for medical care.
Last week, actress Ngozi Nwosu shared that she is dealing with an undisclosed illness and needs N30 million for three life-saving surgeries.
Another actress, Omotunde Apinke Ogundimu, has asked Nigerians for financial help as she fights cervical cancer.
In an emotional interview with actress Biola Bayo, Apinke shared that she has been living with severe pain and needs help to keep up her treatment.
These appeals have again highlighted the health and welfare challenges that many veteran Nollywood actors face. Colleagues, fans, and government agencies have stepped in to support those dealing with serious medical issues.
