Davido at 10: Ten Davido hit songs to vibe this weekend

Nigerian music star, David Adeleke aka Davido has been celebrating his ten years in the game all week. His fans took to Twitter to trend the hashtag #DavidoAt10 #EChoke in honour of the celebration. That’s not all, even Twitter dedicated a customised app to the occasion. Here is a list of some Davido hits in no particular order.

If

This is Davido’s second song to be certified gold after his record hit, Fall. The song was released in 2017 and has gotten over 120 thousand views on YouTube. If has a catchy vibe and is a love song that went viral for a while. It had even the coldest of hearts humming, “If I tell you say I love you, my money, my body na your own o.” The best part of the song is the resounding chorus, “30 billion for the account o“. No other words came close to trending as much during that period.

Dami Duro

Dami Duro is an oldie but goodie. It is one of the first songs by Davido and the major song that shot him into the limelight. The song has over 10 million views on YouTube. It was where the famous line “Emi Omo Baba Olowo (OBO)” emerged.

Flora my Flawa

This song was released in 2018 and has very interesting catchy lyrics. A tune and some on its own, the song is a testament to how foul-mouthed your fave can be though. The chorus reads: “If nothing lasts forever oh. Me and you go be nothing forever oh.” This is definitely a suitable song that can be dedicated to an ex after a bad break-up.

Gobe

Produced under HKN records, this song is also one of Davido’s classics. The song was released in 2013 and has almost 40 million views on YouTube. It definitely got the whole club screaming, see gobe, omo see gobe.

Assurance

When Davido dropped this song and featured his heartthrob, Chioma in the video, it got everyone talking. The young star who already had two other baby mamas was very appealing to his female fans. The video confirmed all the relationship rumours and formally announced their relationship to the world.

Fia

Fire, Fire, burn them“, Davido gets the whole club chanting once the DJ puts this song on. It is one of those songs that always gets the crowd going, be it at a party, club or wedding. The lyrics to this song are also so easy to sing along to and hum all day. The video has over 84 million views on YouTube.

Fall

This song was Davido’s first one to sell 500,000 copies in the US and certified gold. A real crowd-pleaser, Fall is one of those songs that is well received both home and abroad. The song gets a bit of a debate going especially around the lyrics and what he is asking to “fall on you“. The video is also doing great with over 200 million views.

Jowo

This is one of the latest songs from Davido’s recent album “A better Time“. Jowo is one of those really lovely songs that went viral on Instagram during the lockdown. It is also a favourite for lovers and wedding bloggers. The song has very beautiful lyrics and is sure to make anyone feel special.

Fem

Fem became an anthem during the #EndSars protests that rocked Nigeria. The young people demanding for better governance and end to police brutality used the song to drive home their message. This song has interesting lyrics that fit the protest mood and it really brings back memories of the historical period.

Skelewu

This is a proper throwback song too. It came with its own customised dance moves and a super catchy beat. Everyone was skelewuing at the time it hit the airwaves in 2013. Another hit responsible for bringing Davido to limelight.
