Dimeji Ajibola’s Nollywood Sci-fi ‘Ratnik’ To Hit Cinemas In April

Dimeji Ajibola‘s Nollywood science fiction movie Ratnik is finally set to make its cinema run next month since its proposed November 2019 release date.

The anticipated action film, distributed by Blue Pictures, will open in cinemas from April 10, 2020.

Written and directed by Dimeji Ajibola, Ratnik stars Osas Ighodaro, Bolanle Ninalowo, Adunni Ade, Karibi Fubara, Tope Tedela, Paul Utomi, and Meg Otanwa.

The released trailer reveals Osas Ighodaro as a brazen special trooper who returns from the war-front; to find her only sister on the verge of becoming an undead following the release of a certain chemical substance.

Quite obvious is the impressive VFX and effects which are not regular features in Nollywood films. The movie trailer reveals enough to show it will be tense and action-packed; possibly revolving around superheroes.

Flipsyde Production first premiered Ratnik at the 2019 Lagos Comic Convention to explosive reviews. There was much appreciation of Ajibola’s ability to venture into a genre not readily explored in Nollywood.

Following its debut premiere, Ratnik received 7 nominations at the AMVCA 2020 including Best Director, Best Art Director, Best Editor, Best Cinematography, Best Lighting Design, Best Costume Design and the coveted Best Movie (West Africa) category.
